The Opportunity
As the dominant cause of death and disability worldwide, cardiovascular disease remains a massive public health problem in the developed world, both in terms of mortality rate and due to its debilitating effects. According to World Health Organization figures, cardiovascular disease kills an estimated 17 million people worldwide each year and will remain the primary cause of overall mortality for the foreseeable future. In the United States the annual death rate from CVD is more than 3,300 deaths per million people.
Endothelial1 dysfunction (ED) is an early indicator of cardiovascular disease since it is the earliest measurable functional abnormality of the vessel wall. ED is a consequence of the harmful effects of the risk factors of atherosclerosis on the vessel wall and has been demonstrated in subjects with hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, hypertension, and in patients who smoke, and patients with atherosclerotic disease (coronary, peripheral arterial). Available drugs, medical treatments and change of lifestyle can prevent or reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, but early detection of ED and heart disease continue to present a medical challenge.
Cardiatec’s Endotect meets the challenge for early detection. Its operation is noninvasive and offers promising efficacy of earliest possible ED detection. The simple, affordable Endotect device will answer a critical need for early detection of CVD risk and consequently early preventative interventions to reduce the damaging impact of CVD worldwide.

The Cardiatec Solution
Cardiatec’s Endotect accurately detects ED, the earliest indicator of CVD risk. The innovative device examines and measures non-invasively two physiological parameters of arm arteries: pulse transit time and pulse pressure amplitude resulting in increased accuracy and reliability. The algorithm developed to analyze the data provides previously unmet level of ED measurement accuracy. Due to its noninvasiveness, accuracy, simplicity and affordability, the device is more suitable for extensive screening than any other competing device.
